The Clean Up Activity started at 6:00PM where shops are all closed and the last customer has already left. This initiative was from our Municipal Mayor, Mayor Ruben Corpuz who have been constatntly observing the Sunday Market foot traffic as early as 5:30AM.

“Indi ni akon [JFTM], indi mani iya ka Munisipyo, aton ini tanan. Amo gani nga kinahanglan gid naton nga mentenaron ang katinlo sang aton merkado kay diri nagahalin ang aton mga pagkaon.” This is not mine nor owned by the local government. It is ours, that is why we need to keep our market clean because this is where our food comes from. Mayor said during his speech at the launching.

All organizations and volunteer groups were divided into clusters and assigned areas of responsibility. The Office of the Mayor provided all the necessary PPEs and cleaning materials. Power sprayers were used by the Mayor’s Office Staff in cleaning the walls on the wet section and the livestock auction market, all the drains were flushed by the Jordan BFP and the Municipal Agri office representatives sprayed an IMO solution for disinfection and to eliminate foul odors using a mist blower. The ESWM Unit also provided a stand-by dump truck and garbage compactor to ensure that all waste shall be processed properly at the Material Recovery Facility.

All of these were organized properly by the Ecologic Solid Waste Management Unit which supervises the flow of the Bayanihan Clean Up Drive.
